Couples seek therapy for many reasons.  They may find themselves arguing about the same issues over and over.  They may feel disconnected in their relationship and want to reconnect with their partner.  They may be dealing with the aftermath of an affair and trying to reestablish trust, connection, and/or deciding whether they want to continue the relationship.

There have been exciting advances in the field of couple therapy over the past decades, with much of this research happening right here in Ottawa.  Couple therapists now have a better understanding of adult attachment and how adults respond when these needs are not being met.  Couple therapists can use this information to help clients understand patterns of relating that can hurt their relationship and to develop ways to engage that nurture and strengthen their bond.
When working with couples, I draw heavily from an emotionally-focused perspective.  I am also comfortable working from an integrative couple therapy perspective to tailor your couple therapy specifically to you.  Please feel free to contact me to discuss my work with couples further.
